We don't use them every day now, but if we've been for a walk, or if I'm particularly chilly, I'll turn them on.

KNOCK ON WOOD, we haven't had any issues. We have a rug in front of the fireplace, and they know not to step on the rug (so that is a physical reminder of how close they can get). I am really conscious about what toys they play with when the fire is on...they can't throw the ball, for example.

It's hard for me to remember the exact developmental stages, but at their current age, I'm pretty comfortable (KNOCK ON WOOD AGAIN) that they understand direction, and also have a sense for danger.

For the record, I'm not siding with Mama or Papa here, just offering up our experience. ;)MandyE (Twin Trials and Triumphs)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02510155408149227364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2054647267167150119.post-73332809157206427772013-03-04T10:02:08.353-06:002013-03-04T10:02:08.353-06:00I think it is wonderful. She's definitely gotten the most use out of it in the almost 10 years (I think???) since we've had it.

I have an iced tea maker, and I love it. It's almost an antique by now, but I use it every time I make iced tea. (I go on kicks with that one, but we do happen to have a pitcher in the 'fridge as I type.) I bring it up because the handle broke on the pitcher several years ago. It's still functional, but it's definitely a two-hand job to pour. Still, can't throw out that antique!

And I recently bought a fondue pot for chocolate and cheese. I can rationalize that better than bubbling oil, somehow. Funny, though, that I was just telling my dad that my parents' fondue pot (from the early 70's) was the one thing I regretted not keeping from their house. He got a funny look on his face...and said he thought it somehow made its way to his current garage. There's hope yet! And then I might have TWO fondue pots! I can make cheese and chocolate at the same time!!!

What's on our high shelves? Liquor. Not something I use very often these days. Baby A asked about a certain cabinet only a couple of days ago. I told her I didn't get into it very often, and couldn't quite remember. (That, after B asked how old she needed to be to drink wine...ack! I decided the hard liquor convo could wait for a while.) ;)MandyE (Twin Trials and Triumphs)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02510155408149227364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2054647267167150119.post-43809089709115843522013-02-08T21:03:38.112-06:002013-02-08T21:03:38.112-06:00Of course I remember!!! Nothing makes me happier than when all of the pieces of the story, I mean, toy, come together!

In all seriousness, missing toy pieces are on of my biggest challenges as a mom. I have serious OCD tendencies, which manifest themselves as a preoccupation with matching the correct pieces with the correct toy. She can walk on the back of the couch, but we can't.
